  4.                RESPONSIBILITIES  OF  A  RETAIL  CLERK

  6. Retail Clerks in an Apple Pie Video Rental Store are primarily responsible for taking care of customers by receiving and renting films.  Other duties may be assigned by the store manager.

  8. Time Spent                       Duties
  9.    75%          Handles customer requests in person and by 
  10.                 telephone.  Rents videos, receives returned
  11.                 videos.  Completes paperwork for new memberships.
  12.                 Operates the store computer.  Receives payment, 
  13.                 makes change.
  14.  
  15.    15%          Files returned videos.  Returns display boxes to 
  16.                 shelves.  Keeps shelves orderly.
  17.  
  18.    10%          Puts labels on promotional mailers.  Dusts 
  19.                 shelves.  Receives shipments.  Logs special 
  20.                 requests.  Checks drop box.  Performs other 
  21.                 duties as requested.

  23. Skills Required

  25. 1.  Must have good public relations skills.
  26. 2.  Must be able to maintain the store's filing and shelving 
  27.     systems.
  28. 3.  Must be able to learn and effectively operate the store 
  29.     computer.
  30. 4.  Must be able to make change accurately.
  31. 5.  Must be willing to perform other assigned duties.
  32. 6.  Must be available and dependable for flexible scheduling of 
  33.     work hours, including holidays.
  34. 7.  Must be able to work independently and without regular 
  35.     supervision.
